International scientific research programs and multilateral climate resilience initiatives funded by the European Union, British Council, and global energy consortia.
International Research Consortia & Global Climate Partnerships
CHMESR at Cairo University co-leads and participates in competitive international research consortia financed by prestigious multilateral institutions, including Horizon Europe, the EU-Africa LEAP-RE partnership, the British Council, and the PRIMA Mediterranean program.
Strategic Objectives of International Collaboration:
- Renewable Bioenergy & Biofuels: Converting agricultural biomass residues into syngas, bio-oil, and biochar under circular economy principles.
- Arid Agriculture & Water Retention: Developing green polymer hydrogels to dramatically reduce irrigation water loss in drought-prone regions.
- Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus: Protecting Mediterranean ecosystems and vulnerable coastal communities against climate impacts.
- Industrial Decarbonization: Synthesizing novel ionic liquids and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) for CO2 capture in refinery complexes.
