National Mega Projects & Strategic Infrastructure Initiatives
As part of CHMESR's sovereign mandate at Cairo University, the Center spearheads Egypt's critical environmental telemetry and developmental programs nationwide:
1. National Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Network:
A flagship sovereign network owned by the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA) and operated by CHMESR since inception. Initiated with DANIDA (Denmark) and expanded with JICA (Japan), it serves as Egypt's primary environmental barometer tracking criteria air pollutants and acute smog episodes 24/7 across 116 stations.
2. National Environmental Noise Monitoring Network:
Launched in March 2007, operating 38 stations in Greater Cairo and 11 in provincial centers. It represents the region's largest acoustic monitoring infrastructure generating digital acoustic baseline maps for sustainable urban zoning.
3. National Urban Megaprojects & Strategic Developments:
Delivering environmental baseline diagnostics, EIA approvals, and geotechnical engineering for the New Administrative Capital, the New Delta agricultural corridor, Toshka irrigation schemes, and major sea port logistics expansions.
